THERAPY POD

The therapy pod is a portable environment of evolutionary adaptation, designed to allow people to immediately escape the discordant world around them for a quick therapy session. The pod is designed to eliminate all outside distractions such as sight, sound and touch. You will feel like you are floating in space. You will release all the tension stored in your muscles, which allows your mind to rest like never before. You are invited to relax and recover in our purpose-built therapy pod located in various locations. The pods are light enough to be placed in a wide variety of environments.

The structure pod is a geodesic aluminium frame, Harkness fabric, printed vinyl, desserto cactus leather, and a reclaimed PVC covering. The pod also embodies circumambient virtual screening, which provides a wide array of therapeutic visuals, sounds, comfort and ambience for users.

Users can enter and can enclose themselves by pulling shut the door behind them. Inside, there are five therapy chairs and a professional photo camera display for content. Once ensconced in the pod, users can choose either a 15 or 20 minute wellness session whilst leaning back against the grey, microfiber-lined cushions inside the egg-shaped pod. You will be welcomed into the pod with a subtle calming scent, with each pod having a small compartment that stores essential oils which can be paired with each experience.

"This therapy pod is your personal retreat," the screen reads. "It is a space to calm your senses, relieve stress and align your mind and body."

The pod is bathed in a soft light from the LEDs, which glow bright green, a colour that stimulates inner peace. A woman's soothing voice tells you to close your eyes. On-screen content and audio through speakers guide the user through breathing exercises, relaxation techniques and meditation. After the session, the user can continue with their working day relaxed and refreshed. The pod can also be used for one-on-one consultations or group meetings of up to five individuals. Heal Habitat’s inner fabric technology is used to dampen and mask the external sounds, so conversations can take place inside Heal Habitat without people having to raise their voices to be heard.

With many people suffering from mental health disorders and other long-term conditions, the pod has been designed as a safe and engaging alternative space for people to receive essential healthcare services, giving everyone the tools to assist in their everyday well-being.

PRECEDENT
MOVABLE THERAPY PODS FOR PRISONS BY KARL LENTON

Karl Kenton of UK company Safe Innovations has designed these mobile therapy spaces to give prisoners better and more comfortable access to healthcare. Designed for prisoners across the UK, the 2.4-metre diameter Seeds pods are composed of glass-reinforced plastic (GRP) and break down into eight modular pieces that can be assembled in 30 minutes without screws or clips.

A pattern of tessellating diamonds covers the exterior of the white egg-shaped structures, which are entered through a door on one side and can be exited through an emergency route via a panel at the back. Inside the spaces house a central table, colour-changing lamps, speakers and touch screens.
